Peasant cottage from Karmonki Nowe, 1876

This is an example of residential building with utility buildings attached. It was common in the 18th and the 19th century small medieval farms. It was built in 1876, which is indicated by the inscription in Polish cut on one of the joists. It has hall, chambers and cowshed that has another entry. There is a chimney at the hall and hearth, where the bread was baked.

In the bigger chamber the life of the family took place. The most important object was table. That was a place where family ate dinners and prayed together. It was prohibited to sit on the table or putting hats on it. Hall was a storage for small utensils.

In other room there is craft workshop. Inside there are utensils and devices used by wheelwright. Among those objects, there is wooden lathe, axes, hammers, saws, chisels and joiner drill bits.
